Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II


Jaipur is capital of the Rajasthan. Jaipur was founded by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II on 18 November 18, 1727.

Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II was a Kachwaha Rajput who ruled on Jaipur from 1699-1743.

Before to Jaipur his capital was Amber which is 11 km form Jaipur.

With the problem of Increase in Population and there is starting the problem of the water in Amber region. So, king felt to shift the capital city.



Jaipur is believed to be first planned city in India and the king took a lot of the interest in making the city of victory. The king was concern about the safety of the city.

Vidyadhar Bhattacharya, a brahmin scholar in Mathematics and Science form Bengal, assisted by king to design the city's architecture.

Construction started- 1727.

And the construction took 4 years to complete major palaces and roads.

Jaipur City was divided into nine blocks. 

2 blocks are for State buildings and Palaces. 

7 blocks are for citizens. 


In 1878, Prince of Wales visited Jaipur. The complete city was painted in pink colour to welcome the prince. Since, the city named as "Pink City".


Jaipur is famous for its culture and architecture, which attract the tourist for all over the world.




Tourist Places 


Birla Temple, Jaipur
 The Lakshmi-Narayan temple or Birla Temple, as    it is most popularly known as, it is situated at the     base of the Moti dungari. 
 The temple is dedicated to lord Vishnu.
 The temple was built by the most popular Indian   Industrialist, the Birla's, in 1988.


Central Park, Jaipur
 Central Park is a large green zone right in the Centre   of Jaipur.
 It houses a lush garden, the polo Ground and a golf   club.
 There is a tallest flagpole.










Govind dev ji, Jaipur
At the Centre of the sprawling Jai Niwas Garden towards the North of Chandra Mahal is the temple of Lord Krishna.

The idol of Govind Devji, initially introduced in a temple of Vrindavan, was reinstalled here by Sawai Jai Singh II as his family god.









Nahargarh Fort, Jaipur
Nahargarh fort is located beyond the hills of Jaigarh Fort. It was believed that Nahargarh was one of the Royal residences of king.
It stands on the edge of Aravalli hills.
It opens from 10:00 o'clock

The fort was originally named Sudarshangarh, but it became known as Nahargarh, which means 'adobe of tigers'




Galtaji, Jaipur
 Around 10 km away from the Jaipur city, galtaji is a   pilgrimage for the Hindus in a village called    Khaniya- Balaji.
 There are many temples around galtaji.

 There is natural spring which emerges from the top   of the hill filling a number of sacred Ponds (kunds)   in which the pilgrim takes holy bath.

 It is said that Galtaji was named after a Saint
 "Galav", who used to live here and practice   meditations and performed "Tapasya".



Amber Fort, Jaipur
 Previously known as Amber, this place served as   capital for Kachwaha Rajput's.

 The fort houses palaces, gardens, halls and temples   which are built by Raja Man Singh, Raja Jai   Singh   and Sawai Jai Singh.

  There is a garden called 'Sukh Niwas' and 
  'Jas Mandir'.






Albert Hall, Jaipur
Albert hall is the oldest museum in Rajasthan, and it is located in Jaipur City. The museum is located inside the Ram Niwas Bagh opposite to New gate.

It was designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob and was built by Maharaja Ram Singh.
It was opened for public in 1887.

The museum is finest example of Indo-Saracen architecture.




City Palace, Jaipur
City Palace is situated right at the center of the city and is made of grey-white marble stone.
It was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II between 1729 and 1732 A.D.

It includes Chandra Mahal Palace and Mubarak Mahal Palace.







Amrapali Museum, Jaipur
 Amrapali Museum is an initiative by the founder of   Amrapali Jewels Pvt. Ltd.
 The museum is dedicated to the Indian jewellery and   jewellary objects, located in the city of Jaipur

 The opening hours are 11am to 6pm from Monday   to Saturday. Ticket price per person is Rs 600.

Jhalana Safari Park, Jaipur
 
Jhalana Safari Park is most beautiful safari park in   Jaipur that's popular for its leopard sightings. 

 The forest is 1978 hectare and situated on   southeastern border of Jaipur City. 

 There are few popular places of interest in the park   are a majestic shikar oudhi built in 1835 by Sawai   Ram Singh, a big temple of Kali Mata, and a Jain   Chulgiri Temple.






Sculpture Park (Nahargarh), Jaipur

Perched on the edge of the Aravalli's, the Nahargarh Fort, outlooking the city of Jaipur.

The Sculpture at Nahargarh Fort is to promote the country's ever-growing interest in contemporary art.

The gallery is open for public and is a perfect coming together of India's distinctive past and present.
